As a teenager, I was captivated by one of the books I bought solely for its cover - a collection of Celtic myths and legends. I still remember the feeling of fascination as I delved into this mysterious and often haunting world depicted on its pages.
One legend, in particular, has held a special place in my heart: the story of the wolves.
The Celts believed that wolves could communicate with the spirits of the dead. Inspired by this idea and just in time for Samhain, I created this artwork. I wanted to capture the essence of an early November night, filled with purple mist under the dark starry sky.
In the shadows, the last flowers linger at the edges, enchanted mushrooms glow under the eerie branches of a twisted tree. And the wolf rests, calm and content - it’s his home. But his slumber won’t last long; his companion is already calling, howling from the depths of the forest, waiting for him to join.
The sky is decorated with metallic pewter color, also the edges of the piece.
